How It All Began
Team Church began as a vision to reach people where they are. In 1998, Kenny and Kelly Hibbard moved to Charlotte to live out their God-given dream and start a church that would pursue people who had given up on the religion of their childhood or who had never been interested in God or church. Three other young couples joined in the vision and, on January 17, 1999, they held their first service at Crestdale Middle School in Matthews, NC.
Many years have passed since that first Sunday, but the vision has held true. Over the years, we have forged partnerships with local schools, organizations and churches, even helping resource and plant new churches along the way. We believe in the team effort that it takes to do life together, as a community, while living out God’s call and purpose on our lives. That’s why throughout the years, growth and evolution of Team Church, we’ve remained focused on that initial vision to reach people where they are and lead them to full devotion in Christ.
